Education

I have extended my creative endeavors as an animation and media arts educator for 24 years.

I began my career in education while pursuing my MFA as the UCLA Animation Workshop TA. I then taught part time at Loyola Marymount University and Art Center College of Design for a combined 10 years. I have been the currently the Director of Media Arts at de Toledo High School (formerly New Community Jewish High School) in West Hills, CA since 2005.

A few years after I began teaching high school, I was invited to represent the field of animation on an artists' panel. While in the buffet line for dinner at the event, I struck up a conversation with one of the other participants, a musician.  When he asked me what I did, I replied, "I'm an animator".

He asked me what I animated.

As I wasn't in production on a project at the time, I thought for a moment and replied, "I guess these days, I pretty much animate my students."
